Envy

In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “Green-Eyed Monster.”

I envy those

With the knack of prose

Words without end

Flow free from their pens

I struggle here

And sometimes I do fear

Ink I spill

Transfused from vein to quill

Has grown clear

And dry as my tears…

NotPoWriMo

Oh hell no
Can’t NaPoWriMo

Shot the wad

Proverbial anyway

In April 2014

Profuse poetry

Flowed so easily

This year

It would seem

Arid ardour

A heart barren

Are conspiring

My pen confining

To this

Say with me
Two words
And then three

Ponderous, pretentious poetry

Oh hell no
Can’t NaPoWriMo…

Hunted, Hurt, Haunted

Hunted
Just prey
In his sights
Lured with his words
Loved only as a pawn
His long distance trophy
An unwilling captive
Soul maimed
Caught

Hurt
My heart
Ripped to shreds
The gift reverently given
In hands filthy with his
Keystrokes to his whores
Lies of magnitude
The Devil
Envies

Haunted
Despised revenant
Creeping and crawling
Disturbing my midnight dreams
Smiling his protestations of love
Staining newborn clean thoughts
With his memory
This lingering
Ghost

Healed

You left my heart
Vacant as an empty lot

I promised myself I would live
I promised myself I would laugh
I promised myself I would love

You sent a message
Two words healed, “I’m sorry”

No more rain of tears
No more wind of doubt
No more snow of regret

You’ve mended my heart
A garden instead of asphalt
