Wildfire Rages In Fort McMurray

A view from residents trying to leave Fort McMurray, Alta., from Twitter user @ccccrystal__. The city is under an evacuation order due to a raging wildfire. (Supplied/Twitter)
Thoughts and prayers are with my friends and extended family out West ❤
YES!!! My heart is with them.

It is surreal watching the news reports and live footage… going through the house for useful things to donate.

We had them two years in a row. Friends list everything. Let me know by email if you can think of things I can send or if there is a fund I can contribute to

Will do. I’m asking on FB about a local drop off point and the Red Cross has a donation link on their main page. Thank you Rita <3. There are times when we are all Fort Mac, Boston, Belgium, Paris…

A sad situation. I know a couple of neighbors who are in Ft. McMurray and can’t get out. I wonder what will happen to the main camp or industry up there after the fire. Those jobs are a mainstay of some people. Sad situation indeed.

Oh no! There are always some who refuse to evacuate and I have a lot of empathy for the feeling but… I can only hope the fire’s movement will have been stopped soon. The entire city is gone is what I’m reading right now, likely the industry is decimated too. I’ve made a small donation via the Red Cross and am hoping Ottawa sets up drop-off points for folks who’ve lost everything. It’s heartbreaking and could happen to any of us.

Yes we never can tell what awaits us. Nature is a force to be reckoned with. The heart gets heavy at these times.

Couldn’t agree more ❤ I feel a little better now that I've done something concrete and it sure puts a lot of my problems into context.

Yes it does put peoples problems in contest at least the trivial ones.

This is BIG ! It’s all over the European news channels. I pray that wind turns the fire back onto itself and it rains. ❤

I do too Ralph! It’s surreal, some of the photos and footage. All prayers gratefully accepted ❤

That picture got hair at the back of my neck stand. It is quite touchy and sad to see this. Prayers with them from the bottom of my heart. Thank you for sharing this. – Cezane

Living just a few hours south of Fort Mac, I believe it is Notley’s negligence which allowed this fire to balloon out of control 😛 ♥ ❤ https://destroyingalberta.wordpress.com/2016/05/05/what-is-the-ndp-hiding-with-the-fort-mcmurray-fire/

There’s so much coming out right now that is us Canucks trying to find a reason. What I’m trying to keep in mind is that sometimes really bad shit happens (Ma Nature has been off her meds or the Great White North has ticked her off big time!) and that there’ll always be certain individuals and entities (Air Canada anyone?) that try to capitalize on human tragedy. Bottom line though? The huge majority of Canadians stepped up and said “We are all Fort Mac” and I hope all of us will continue to focus on that, foster it and love the hell out of how this is what Canada is. We can always vote them out next time! 🙂
So glad that you’re out of the main part of it but I bet this’ll affect the entire province for a long time…

Yup, gotta stay positive and embrace our inner-Canadian 🙂 3 more years of Notley, though… That’s not gonna be an easy road!

Sounds like our incumbent premier ‘Queen Kathleen’ (Wynne)! We need to keep our eyes on up-and-comers or alternates – there’ll never be perfect candidates but I’m sure there are better out there 🙂
Have a good one!

LoL Karin … *gasp* … Last thing in the world I want to sound like is Wynne, Notley or JT! I’m not at all sure how these 3 got elected, but I am sure there are better candidates out there!!! 🙂 ♥ ❤

*laughing* – the hazards of typing, my bad. I meant Notley sounds like Wynne. I’m notoriously apolitical, other than I do vote but the evidence of Wynne allowing gouging over hydro rates alone is irrefutable. Thank goodness tonight is Stitch ‘n Bitch!

heehee… heh, yeah… I’m no fan of arrogance and find it hard to believe these 3 “nincompoops” are in charge of our hard-earned Canadian future!!! 😛
Enjoy your S ‘n B tonight! 🙂 ♥ ❤
