OctPoWriMo 2015 ~ Hope Springs

I was going to write a few silly lines

One boy, two boy

Three boys, oh joy!

Then I thought, why waste my breath; my attention and time

To try to get to you with my meter and rhyme

You’ve become a brick wall, with an acid-filled moat

Seems you’re impervious to anything that I wrote

But I’ll leave the candle burning

Just this one last time

And pray the flame melts your armour

Kindling what was once

Yours and mine

    • Thank you so much! I really appreciate that – I’ve tried to create a calm, pretty space and it’s so nice to hear that others like it too! Here’s hoping and wishing on that candle 🙂

  1. Well you had my attention – following the flow so easily – yet the sentiments (even if poetic permission) are less than stellar – offering sorrow – there is light – left aflame – which brightens the room of the heart, perhaps, finally.

  2. I like the way the writer as narrator perseveres, despite that acid-filled moat! And I appreciate the postscript — Just writing, folks — for sometimes we do assume poetry is personal. Lovely.

    • Thank you so much! I don’t always add notes but I don’t want to throw any infrequent visitors or family members for a loop when a melancholy piece falls from the pen 🙂
