Aside ~ About Amazon…

I’m sorry to get political late on a Friday… This just now came to my attention and given all the foofaraw and hullabaloo about Amazon’s craptastic anti-review review policies… how about we get behind telling them we don’t want our books sold on the same platform as this sub-species of dung beetle’s spew…?

  1. Thank you for bringing this scourge to my attention. I wish I could say that I could not believe that any man could say such a thing, but I live in an industrialised country and sadly, sex education is so poor that this sort of thing is the standard operating procedure for men. I once tried to report a stalker who impersonated a postal worker and got office staff at my workplace to give him my home address and telephone number. I’d never met him before he knocked on my door and three police officers asked if he was my “boyfriend.” Amazing and not in a good way. Legally, I was entitled to the benefit of the doubt and they fully investigated. However, I was put off by the immediate accusation of lying. What if he had a gun and threatened me with it and I was calling for help? The reason people buy these books is that they are looking for validation of their twisted ideas. It’s hard for people to change their minds when this sort of fuel is out there. x

    • It’s bad enough that this type of vermin hasn’t been bred out of the human species yet. To know that their twisted views are being supported by the same corporate behemoth that won’t allow me to review your book but allows the sale of a how to for violent crime, is utterly sickening.
I think this is yet another reason to leave Amazon and resuscitate my Smashwords sale platform.

      • I understand the frustration with the Amazon anti review review policy. I have to say that I once outed someone for writing fiction as an autobiography. It was not well researched and culled from sources found on three pages of Google searches, plus a bunch of Hollywood films. Very unoriginal. This was before Wikileaks. As I was friends with people from the culture (Middle East), I had to warn readers. Sadly, this person is still making money off that book, feeding into media stereotypes about culture, but it is nothing compared to this apalling retrovirus.

      • I think you did the right thing. Too many of these are under the radar of Wikileaks and / or too much for the “Can’t be bothered to click to report” people. Me…? I figure this cretin needs more of my attention than my reviews or lack thereof. It won’t surprise me to see him and his garbage slither back into unrepentant and unchallenged filth-mongering.

      • It is interesting how we have to support his right to free speech. Technically, an anti review review is free speech, but we can’t do that. (Makes no sense). However, I agree with the reviewers at Change.org. He should also accept the backlash for hate speech. The women who accept and reward his behaviour have led him to believe that his method is effective. I’ve read the blogs of women who boast about their participation in the hookup culture. Not a single one of them is happy or satisfied with their conquests. At least one of them came to me asking for support because she was suffering a nervous breakdown after being discarded so often by those types. What I’m realising is some women are looking for princes among the filth slitherers.

      • You are so right!! WP is a a little microcosm of that culture. Sad, really. One would have to be an idiot to be looking online for a prince. Umm, hello? They’re married cretins looking for affairs. When will people ever get this through their heads? There’s no Sisterhood. The same girls who would have stuffed that cheerleader in a locker for eating lunch with your boyfriend are all grown up and sniffing at your partner and thinking it’s just “play”, fun and “two consenting adults”. Not.
I got way off topic and onto a soapbox! 🙂

      • I love soapboxes. You supported me when I face slapped a married cretin (No mas) at mine a while back. I just assume they’re married or seeing people without asking. You are correct. They prefer to sniff around a friend’s partner because the friend chose a nice guy and they want to prove something. The Sisterhood has dissolved. Sad, but true. x

    • I feel the same. I was surprised that it was my daughter’s post and vote brought it to my attention. WP is usually all over this kind of thing. I truly hope it gets the attention and action it deserves.
