Aside ~ Entitlement

synonyms: right, prerogative, claim
the belief that one is inherently deserving of privileges or special treatment.
“no wonder your kids have a sense of entitlement”

No one inherently deserves anything. No one is entitled to anything. No one should take what they perceive to be their entitlement at a cost to another human being.

Only two-year olds are “entitled to their entitlements” in their tiny amoeba minds and…

Their temper tantrums when they don’t get what they want…

Don’t hurt, maim and scar.

Just thinking this afternoon…

    • I can understand how a person could look around at all the “Stuff” that others have and think they deserve it too. I just think it’s a juvenile way to think. We make our own happiness and our ideals should be in accord with what we’re willing to put in.

      • I have to admit I was much more materialistic before my Mom died. Now although I like nice things, I just don’t need them. They don’t matter n u can’t take it with you 🙂

  1. I’m not sure how it is in Canada but I am fearful of the culture brewing in the States. The sense of entitlement and laziness is becoming an epidemic especially among young adults. They are not forced to join the military, work, or seek education. They are simply left to stay at home and do nothing all day without paying rent.

The parents are ultimately to blame. They think by “being their child’s friend” they are helping them out but they are setting them back. They aren’t allowing them to grow and learn life skills to overcome adversity and tribulations. One day Mom and Dad won’t be there….

    • I agree but we better not say it too loudly, lest we be squashed by the “Everybody wins just because” lobby. I don’t want to get political on the ole blog – who knows what that might incite – I do think the answer to “what’s wrong with the last two generations?” is painfully obvious. We don’t Parent like our parents did.
