Tenderness

About last night…

To my ear there are few sounds sweeter
Than the quiet breathing and murmur
Of a sated man as he lies sleeping
And of loving secrets he’s been keeping

Moments that evoke such tenderness
For this sleeping Knight in his Poetess
Naked and vulnerable held in her arms
Unaware of how his surrender charms

Sleep Dear Heart, I keep watch over you
‘Til dawn streaks the sky and I succumb too
Trading Guardian’s wings for a woman’s need
Slipping to dreams with you wrapped round me
