I felt so brave. Flying all the way here alone, first time I’d ever done that. Testing my wings after a long broken period. I thought of you of course. You’d been on my mind far more often than I cared to admit. No coincidence I was here, the Pacific coast was on my bucket list due to some of your photos in our correspondence. You knew my itinerary but I didn’t dare hope you might come to meet me. The bridge creaked and I turned back to see you silhouetted against blue sky and green fields. Your smile looked like home.
