Gardner’s Sonnet

If my lips were honeysuckle
would you be my honeybee…

Small buds of cherry blossoms
to be caressed so tenderly

Little cup like sugar magnolia
begs you taste the nectar within

And the tiny, jewelled rosebud
is anticipating his loving attention

He fingers the silky petals, touches velvet softness to his lips
The tiny rosebud shivers, blossoms, a sweet reward for his kiss
