Once In Arthur’s Forest

A tiny spark of light in the distance
I could barely see through the driving storm
A silhouette appeared in a doorway
She said ” come inside and be warmed”

Who knows how long I had wandered
Through the ice and the sleet that morn
To my snow blind eyes she was dazzling
She said ” come inside and be warmed”

And we sat together by the fireside
She served hot mead in a goblet of horn
In the glow of the peat fire she was radiant
She said ” come inside and be warmed”

She took my hand and led me to her bed
Loved me through the night and until the morn
Sheets of satin couldn’t be more enticing
She said ” come inside and be warmed”

Returned safely next day to my castle
My lady vanished as complete as the storm
But her memory burns bright as an ember
She said ” come inside and be warmed”
